What is the optimum size of group?
The optimum size of group is between 10 and 12, so that we can give all of the students as much focused attention as possible. Larger groups can be caterered for, but these may be organised into smaller groups.

What is the optimum age range of the group?
Our range of activities and areas of interest allow us to cater for a wide range of age group from Pre-Schooler to Graduate. There is no optimum age range.
Is there any follow up to the trip?
The visit to Townhead Farm can act as a catalyst for education and training, as well as giving vulnerable youngsters an insight into how they can transform their lives.
If it is agreed as beneficial, we will endeavour to visit a school within eight to twelve weeks of the trip to discuss progress with both staff members and students. .

What is the impact?
Staff bringing a group will be expected to provide information about participating young people in advance of the visit, and to follow up with our staff at 2 and 6 month intervals. This will help assess the impact of the visit on the individual student and is necessary for the young people, their schools and Townhead Farm.
Which staff should I bring?
Staff who are likely to be working closely with the students, since Townhead Farm aims to build positive relationships between young people and adults, who are witness to their successes on the farm. Appropriate choices may be heads of year, pastoral leaders, learning mentors etc.
Do you have Public Liability Insurance?
Yes. We have Public Liability Insurance for £5 million
Have you done Risk Assessments?
Yes. Most Risk Assessment is common sense and we would assume most people use common sense when viewing the animals. We do give a full safety briefing to children when on school/nursery visits before the children come into contact with the animals.
Should I be worried about e-coli?
We take the health and safety of you, our animals and ourselves very seriously at all times. We have a strict H&S policy which all staff are familiar with. With regards to the specific risks presented by e-Coli we ensure that we are aware and follow the latest advice from the Health and Safety Executive
